How to Search the Norway Court Docket
Norway has no city-run docket database. Pull the essentials off the notice first: court name, case number or ticket number, issue date, and response date. A case number on a Norway citation points to whichever court the document names, and there is no Norway-only selector. For a lower-court matter, use MiCOURT Case Search and select 95B District Court. For a circuit-level matter, choose the 41st Circuit Court. Remember that MiCOURT is informational only. It is not the official court record.
- Read the Norway notice or citation and identify whether it remains a city administrative matter or names a court.
- For a court matter, open MiCOURT and select 95B District Court for traffic, misdemeanor, lower civil, or other district cases.
- Search by the case number when available. The public interface uses Year, Number, and Type fields, and no Norway-specific case-number format was published.
- Without a case number, begin with Last Name or Business, then add first name, middle name, or birth year only as needed.
- Read the Norway case history for the court, case type, filing date, status, participants, hearing information, and dated events.
- If no result appears, call 95B at 906-774-0506, ask Norway City Hall whether the notice is still administrative, or call the 41st Circuit Court at 906-774-2266 for a circuit-level matter.
Call before visiting about older files. With the case year and type in hand, ask the court whether a Norway court file sits onsite or in archives.
No Separate Norway Municipal Court Located
No separate Norway municipal court exists. There is no municipal judge, no night court, no city citation portal, and no city court-records database. That matters. A Norway address or a local police agency does not create its own Norway court docket. A city notice does not either. The Dickinson County Court System lists 95B District Court as the county's limited-jurisdiction court.
Norway court answer: Norway has no separate municipal court. Use the court named on the citation or case document, and confirm the route with the clerk if the document and the online result disagree.
The Norway Municipal Court
There is no distinct Norway Municipal Court, whatever the search phrase suggests. Norway City Hall keeps ordinances, agendas, minutes, applications, public notices, and other city administrative records. Those papers can explain a city action. But they are not the register of actions for a 95B or 41st Circuit case. The originating Norway court clerk holds the docket. It is not a city calendar or a City Hall file cabinet. Once a Norway traffic or civil-infraction case reaches 95B, the public case history can list the court, case number, case type, participants as permitted, status, chronological events, and a next hearing when entered. Want an actual document? That usually takes a clerk request for an image, plain copy, or certified copy. A MiCOURT result never certifies the case record. So treat it as a lead rather than the record on file.
Norway City Hall and Court Files
Norway City Hall sits at 915 Main Street, Norway, MI 49870, with mail going to P.O. Box 99. The published phone is 906-563-9961, and the fax is 906-563-7502. Keep City Hall and the courthouse straight. Filed Norway cases live at the Iron Mountain courthouse.

The official City of Norway site posts the City Hall contact plus its municipal-record links.
That city site works well for Norway government records and contacts. It is not a court-case search portal or a schedule of judicial settings.
Norway Court Dates and Settings
A Norway court date appears on the citation, notice, order, or case history. It never appears on a city event listing. For a filed 95B case, check the latest MiCOURT event after selecting the district court. The 95B public Court Display can show date, Party Name, Time, Hearing Info, Case Number, and CTN. Its date view has returned empty results and a 404 data response before. So a blank display proves nothing about whether a Norway hearing was cancelled.
| Date | The date on the latest citation, notice, order, or public case-history setting. A later reset can supersede an earlier entry. |
|---|---|
| Time | The posted time when the 95B display or case history includes it. Confirm whether it is an individual setting or a docket call. |
| Court | 95B for an ordinary filed Norway district matter; 41st Circuit only after a circuit-jurisdiction event, bindover, or appeal. |
| Hearing Info | A field used by the 95B display for hearing or setting information. The exact label may vary by case and court. |
| Current Status | Read the newest case-history event for reset, continued, held, disposed, or another current signal, then confirm with the clerk. |
For a hearing coming up soon, call 95B and confirm the date, time, location, and whether you must appear. The court posts no local remote-hearing policy.
Norway Calendar Is Not a Court Setting
Norway's city site carries calendars and city-government events. But a City Council agenda or local event list is not a judicial calendar. The Norway 2026 master calendar tracks municipal activity. It cannot confirm a 95B court date, a 41st Circuit setting, or a reset. A real Norway court setting lives in the case history. It also lives in the 95B Court Display when available, on a court notice, or in a clerk's direct confirmation.
| Norway source | What it can show | What it cannot confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Norway city calendar | City-government events and local municipal activity | A judicial hearing, court reset, courtroom, or case status |
| Norway agendas and minutes | Council business, ordinances, and municipal actions | A court case history or case-file document |
| MiCOURT case history | Public court events, case data, and a setting when entered | A certified copy or a guarantee of immediate updating |
| 95B Court Display or clerk | Posted day-view fields or current court confirmation | A replacement for a signed court order where one is required |
When a Norway citation and an online docket disagree, call the Norway court named on the citation. A later reset can sit beside the earlier setting, both visible at once. Keep in mind that the city calendar's silence proves nothing about a hearing, because the city calendar is not the court's calendar.
Norway Traffic Tickets
Get organized before you chase a Norway ticket. Keep the citation number close. Keep the issue date, the court name, and the response date close at hand too. Those four items drive every docket search. If the ticket names 95B District Court, pull the MiCOURT case history first. Then confirm the court date with 95B itself. Online payment is a maybe, not a promise. The official eCourts PayTix system handles a ticket only when the cited court takes part. That ticket must also be open there. No online option changes the deadline printed on a Norway ticket or court notice.
What if the ticket is still a city administrative notice? Ask City Hall, and follow whatever the notice tells you to do. A city ticket has not become a court case on its own. Once the matter is filed or referred, 95B is the court route. A felony can travel from district preliminary proceedings into the 41st Circuit Court. The court named on the citation controls, wherever the conduct happened in the city. For citation and copy detail, the Dickinson County traffic court records reference helps. But it does not replace the Norway court-name check.
How a Norway Citation Reaches 95B
Not every Norway notice starts life as a court case. The local route runs in steps. First comes the city notice or citation. Then comes a city administrative response where the notice directs one. Then 95B if the matter is filed or referred as a district case. The 41st Circuit Court appears only for circuit jurisdiction, a felony after bindover, or an appeal. Knowing that sequence saves wasted calls. A city office cannot hand over a court record it does not hold.
Docket flow: Norway city notice or citation → Norway administrative response when directed → 95B District Court if filed or referred → 41st Circuit Court only for circuit jurisdiction, bindover, or appeal.
A Norway matter may sit in 95B. Read the case history to find the public docket layer, which may list filing, hearing, continuance or reset, disposition, and other events. A docket entry is an index. It is not the document itself. Need the paper? Ask the Norway court clerk for a public, plain, or certified copy.
Where Norway Cases End Up
Where a Norway case lands depends on its type. Most Norway filings ride the 95B District Court route. Traffic, misdemeanor, small-claims, lower civil, and municipal-infraction matters all take that route. A felony starts in 95B for preliminary proceedings. After bindover, it moves to the 41st Circuit docket. Circuit civil cases over $25,000 follow their own circuit path. So do family matters, PPO matters, and district appeals. A Norway city label never overrides the court's jurisdiction or its case-history custodian.
For a quick venue check, the official Dickinson court map is the tool. It assigns traffic and lower-court matters to 95B. The circuit-level categories go to the 41st Circuit Court. The Dickinson County court docket home page adds the broader three-court walkthrough for context.
Norway City Clerk and Court Clerk
Two clerks, two record sets. The Norway City Clerk keeps municipal records, and the Norway court clerk keeps case files. Under FOIA, the city releases ordinances, council minutes, city notices, administrative correspondence, and similar municipal records. Put the request in writing to the FOIA Coordinator. The Norway form treats an electronic, e-mail, or fax request as received one business day after transmission. The city then responds within five business days. It may take one ten-business-day extension. None of that opens a 95B, 41st Circuit, or probate case file.
| Record needed | Norway contact | Court contact |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinance, council minute, city notice, or city correspondence | Norway City Hall and its FOIA Coordinator | Not a court-file request |
| 95B case history, hearing, filed court document, or certification | City Hall does not hold the court case file | 95B District Court clerk |
| Circuit case after bindover, appeal, or circuit jurisdiction | City Hall does not hold the circuit case file | 41st Circuit Court clerk |
For a public court document, the better route in Norway is a targeted request. Send it to the court that holds the record. Norway's FOIA form covers city records, and Michigan Court Rule 8.119 gives you a hook to ask the originating court directly. Ask the clerk about copy or certification costs when you file the request.
If a case number lists an ORI, the Michigan State Police county and city code page helps you decode it. Dickinson County is code 22. Norway is code 46.
Those geographic codes can identify a city inside a state reference system. They do not create a Norway court selector or make City Hall the custodian of a judicial case file.
Public Access to Norway Court Records
Michigan court records follow the court that maintains the case. That holds even when the case arose in Norway. Michigan Court Rule 8.119 generally opens the trial-court case history, also called a register of actions, to public inspection unless a statute, court rule, or court order restricts it. Treat the public search as informational only. For the actual file, ask the originating Norway court for inspection, a plain copy, or a certified copy as the venue requires.
Norway court-record rules:
MCR 8.119 makes public court case histories and records available subject to lawful restrictions, and permits actual reproduction costs.
MCR 1.109(D)(9) requires protection of specified personal identifiers, so a Norway public view can be redacted or incomplete.
MCL 15.235 governs a written FOIA request to a public body's coordinator, which is the Norway city-record route rather than a way to bypass a court-file restriction.
MiCOURT terms leave out or restrict juvenile, adoption, child-protective, mental-health, PPO, will, and other protected matters. So a Norway result can simply be absent. Ask the originating court about access rather than sending the city a request for a restricted court file.
Norway Certified Court Copies
A public Norway case-history search is not a certified record. Looking at a public case history or document costs nothing under MCR 8.119(J)(1). Copies can cost money. Michigan's general certified-copy amount is $10 for certification plus $1 per page. Ask the 95B clerk about certification options. Can the Norway record come as a printed case history, or as a certified electronic reproduction? Dickinson has published no local plain-copy unit price. Let the court state the actual reproduction cost.
| Norway record request | Where to ask | Known rule or cost |
|---|---|---|
| Inspect a public 95B or circuit case history | Originating court clerk | No access fee for inspection under MCR 8.119(J)(1) |
| Plain copy of a Norway court document | Originating court clerk | Actual reasonable reproduction cost; local unit amount was not located |
| Certified Norway court copy | Originating court clerk | $10 certification plus $1 per page |
| Transcript of a Norway hearing | Reporter or recorder for the judge who handled the case | Transcript channel is separate from the ordinary clerk counter |
Note: A certified copy is an authenticated court record, while a Norway public search result is only the informational case-history layer.
