Traffic Court Records in Dickinson County
95B District Court handles Dickinson County traffic civil infractions and traffic misdemeanors. It sits at 705 S. Stephenson Avenue in Iron Mountain. The phone number is 906-774-0506. Its clerk is the local contact for the court file, the current setting, and copy requests. A felony-level traffic matter can start in district preliminary proceedings and then move to the 41st Circuit Court after bindover. For that post-bindover case, call 906-774-2266 rather than assuming the district file remains the controlling record.
The court docket file can include the citation or charge, a responsibility or plea event, hearings, orders, disposition, and public financial entries. The MiCOURT Case Search is the public informational layer of that case history. It can help locate a 95B case. But it is not the official court record and does not promise document images. Iron Mountain, Kingsford, and Norway have no separate municipal court. A city can issue a parking or ordinance notice, yet a filed case still follows the 95B route.
The official Michigan eCourts welcome page describes a state ticket-payment service covering some district courts. It explains the service's limits, not whether a particular 95B citation can be paid online.
A general welcome screen does not change the direction printed on a ticket. Use the citation, a current PayTix result, or the court clerk to set the response channel for the matter.
95B Is Dickinson's Traffic Venue
Venue is the first question when a ticket carries more than one local government name. 95B handles Dickinson traffic civil infractions and traffic misdemeanors. Its docket also holds misdemeanors, felony preliminary examinations, civil matters under $25,000, small claims, summary proceedings, and municipal infractions. That mix is why a traffic case appears in a district court case history rather than a separate city traffic docket.

Do not treat a county administrative-record office as a substitute for the 95B clerk. The County Clerk/Register of Deeds keeps county records, but the court clerk handles court cases. The county site still carries an old courthouse appointment notice, so call ahead before visiting.
How to Look Up a Traffic Ticket
Read the citation before opening any search tool. It identifies the alleged violation, the court, the ticket or citation number, the response or appearance date, and the instructions. For a filed 95B matter, use MiCOURT to locate the public case history. The official PayTix ticket search is another possible channel. But participation and online availability depend on the selected court and the returned ticket. The service does not create a universal Dickinson payment path.
- Read the citation and identify whether it names 95B District Court or remains a city administrative parking or ordinance notice.
- For a 95B case, open MiCOURT, select 95B District Court, and search the public case history using the case information available.
- Use PayTix only after selecting the court and supplying one of its search modes. A result for the particular ticket is the indication to follow the service's next steps.
- If the ticket cannot be found, call 95B at 906-774-0506 with the citation details, or contact the court before visiting the clerk's counter at 705 S. Stephenson Avenue.
- For a city parking notice that has not become a court case, check the issuing city first. For a felony matter after bindover, contact the 41st Circuit Court.
- For mail, e-mail, or fax response directions, use the citation or the route confirmed by the court. The county clerk fax is not automatically the traffic clerk's submission channel.
The official PayTix search route asks for a court and county selection. It lists no Dickinson-specific citation format, no online fee, and no promise that every 95B ticket can be paid there.
The official PayTix search screen presents the court and county choices a visitor works through to find a ticket.
The interface is only a lookup option. When no result appears, or a response date needs confirmation, the citation and the clerk remain necessary.
Dickinson Ticket Search Modes
PayTix offers four ticket-search methods in its district-court interface. Each is just another way to look for a ticket. It is not a promise the ticket is there. Enter only identifying information the service asks for and that relates to the citation. If the record does not appear, fall back on the 95B clerk. Do not guess about the ticket's status.
| PayTix mode | Fields shown | Local limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Last name and ticket number | Last Name and Ticket # | Use the ticket number exactly as printed; no Dickinson format was published. |
| Last name and date of birth | Last Name and month, day, and year selectors | One optional search mode in the official interface. |
| Driver license number | License number and state | A PayTix search field, not a court-file identifier for every case. |
| License plate | Plate text and state | A PayTix search field, not confirmation of case availability. |
The official district-court PayTix interface supplies the field labels reflected in this table.
A court clerk can confirm whether the citation has posted and which response channel applies, without relying on an assumed search format.
Finding Your Traffic Court Date
The date printed on a citation is the first source for a traffic appearance or response. A later 95B case-history event may show a hearing, adjournment, reset, or disposition. Check MiCOURT for the current public history. Then call the 95B clerk if the date is close, the record is absent, or the citation and the online entry differ. The 95B Court Display can also show a date-specific entry with Party Name, Time, Hearing Info, Case Number, and CTN. An empty display is not a cancellation.
| Citation Number | Use the number exactly as printed on the citation. No Dickinson-specific public format was located, so Citation number as printed is the reliable reference. |
|---|---|
| Court | 95B District Court for ordinary Dickinson traffic cases; the 41st Circuit Court after a felony traffic matter is bound over. |
| Date and Time | Read the citation first, then compare it with the latest public setting or the clerk's confirmation. |
| Hearing Info | The 95B display can label a hearing or setting. The label may be an appearance, arraignment, hearing, or later court event. |
| Status | Use the current case-history event and the court clerk to understand a pending, held, reset, or disposed matter. |
Dickinson County makes no promise about how often its online court calendar gets refreshed. If your hearing is coming up soon, call court 95B directly so the docket date you rely on is a confirmed one.
Dickinson Citation Date and Reset
A ticket carries one date at first. The court may later set a different one. A reset or continuance in Dickinson County traffic court leaves the old setting on the MiCOURT case history while a newer event appears beside it. The 95B Court Display shows days separately. So the date printed on the citation is only the starting instruction. Trust the later docket entry, or confirm the current setting with the court directly.
| Source | What it establishes | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Citation | Initial court, ticket reference, and response or appearance instruction | Whether a later notice or reset changed the date |
| MiCOURT case history | Public chronological events and a next hearing when entered | Whether the latest event supersedes an older setting |
| 95B Court Display | Posted date, party, time, hearing information, case number, and CTN | Whether a blank or error reflects availability rather than a cancellation |
| 95B clerk | Current court confirmation | Date, time, location, appearance requirement, and response route |

Paying or Contesting a Ticket
Read the citation before you pick a response. That sheet, not a general website, sets the deadline and lists what you may do. Civil infractions come with responsibility or contest directions. Follow whichever route fits. A court clerk can walk you through the procedure, though clerks cannot give legal advice. Some district courts let you pay a civil infraction or misdemeanor by card through eCourts PayTix, but only for certain tickets, so check the court's notice to see if yours qualifies.
| Paying or admitting responsibility | Contesting or entering a plea |
|---|---|
| Follow the citation and the court's instructions for any available payment route. | Follow the citation and court notice for the permitted contest or plea procedure. |
| Payment is a court financial or disposition event in the case record. | The court may set a later appearance, arraignment, or hearing for the case. |
| PayTix may be available only if the selected court and ticket return an online option. | Contact 95B for case-specific procedural information and current setting details. |
Do not ignore the stated response date: Under MCL 257.321a, failure to answer a citation, appear, or comply can trigger a notice and a statutory court and Secretary of State process. Michigan procedure includes 14-day notice concepts in some matters, but the citation and court notice control the case-specific deadline.
The Michigan Vehicle Code source for that failure-to-answer process appears below.
No PayTix listing does not pause the clock. The deadline stands, so call 95B and use the response route the court confirms.
Dickinson eCourts Ticket Outages
eCourts posts a statewide warning. Maintenance or system downtime does not extend a ticket or case due date. That matters whenever PayTix will not load, returns nothing, or stalls mid-transaction. It is not a special Dickinson payment rule. The local fallback is to call 95B at 906-774-0506. Follow the citation or whatever submission method the court confirms. The eCourts ticket welcome page carries that availability warning.
Have the citation number, court name, and response date in hand when you call. Staff can say whether the matter has posted and where your response should go.
Court Traffic Record vs Driver Record
Two offices keep two different files here. The 95B clerk holds the court traffic record. That means the citation case and its public procedural history. The Michigan Secretary of State keeps the state driver record separately. A court result may be transmitted for licensing purposes. But viewing one online never replaces the state-held record. Knowing which office holds the document saves a misdirected request.
| Record | Custodian | What it concerns | Request route |
|---|---|---|---|
| Court traffic record | 95B District Court clerk | Citation or charge, court events, hearings, orders, disposition, and available court financial entries | MiCOURT for public history; 95B for a court-file copy or certification |
| State driver record | Michigan Secretary of State | The state's separate record of reportable matters and licensing action | Request it from the Secretary of State, not from the court docket |
The Vehicle Code covers what happens after a failure to answer, appear, or comply. It spells out the court and Secretary of State process. It never turns the court docket into a stand-in for the state record.
Dickinson Traffic Filing Snapshot
Dickinson County's official 2025 judicial-resources report counts 996 district traffic civil infraction filings for 2024. It also lists 1,530 district filings in an "all others" category. Parking tickets are excluded. These are annual reporting figures, not open tickets and not a live calendar, which is one reason the 95B calendar is not a traffic-only list.
The 2023 95B detail reports 2,656 dispositions and 472 matters ending pending across its categories. Those numbers give court-system context only. They say nothing about the timing or result of any single traffic case.
Fees and Copies
Michigan court rules let you inspect a public case history or public document for free. Copies are another matter. A court may charge to reproduce them. So ask the 95B clerk whether you need a plain copy, a certified copy, or a certified case history. The statewide certified-copy rule sets $10 for certification plus $1 per page. Dickinson has published no separate local plain-copy price. Nor is there a published online convenience fee for a traffic case.
| Item | Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Inspect public case history or document | $0 access fee | Michigan Court Rule 8.119(J)(1); reproduction is a separate question. |
| Certified traffic case copy | $10 plus $1 per page | State rule and records-standard amount; ask 95B what can be certified. |
| Plain traffic copy | Actual reasonable reproduction cost | No Dickinson-specific unit price was located. |
| Online payment or convenience fee | Not located | Confirm any amount with the returned ticket service or 95B before paying. |
Michigan Court Rule 8.119 governs access to court records. Remember that a public search result is not a certified copy.
City Tickets and Dickinson Court Cases
A city parking notice and a filed district-court case are not automatically the same thing. Kingsford's official 2025 fee sheet sets a $25 parking citation for the first ten days. Then it adds $25 after ten days. An unpaid ticket goes to District Court after 20 days. The sheet names no later court fine total. That referral point explains why the issuing city is the first contact for a recent parking notice. 95B becomes the court contact afterward. Dickinson County operates no separate municipal court for Iron Mountain, Kingsford, or Norway. Before treating a city notice as a court case, read its issuing agency, court reference, and response instruction. Once 95B has the matter, rely on the court case history. Use the clerk channels described above. A city administrative amount should never be assumed to carry over into a later court record.
Note: a city notice may become a district-court case. But only the citation, the issuing city, or 95B can confirm the present status and response route.
